What it costs
Know what your budget can build.
These are typical project paths around Lake Norman, organized by the work included. Your proposal then turns your own measurements, finishes and priorities into a clear line-item scope.
Resurface
$10,000 – $16,000
Typical 12 × 28 to 16 × 32 pool
- Full chip-out of the old plaster
- Crack and hollow-spot repair
- New plaster or quartz finish
- Acid wash, fill and water balance
- 30 days of start-up care
Resurface + edges
$16,000 – $30,000
Everything above, plus the parts you touch
- New waterline tile
- New coping — bullnose or cantilever
- Skimmer and return fittings
- Light niche and trim
- 30 days of start-up care
The whole backyard
$30,000 – $60,000+
When the deck and equipment go too
- Travertine or paver decking
- Raised spa, spillway or sheer descent
- Pump, filter, heater, automation
- Easy-entry steps or a tanning ledge
- 30 days of start-up care
Every proposal identifies the preparation method—not just the visible finish. For resurfacing, that means knowing whether the scope includes a full chip-out or bonds new material over the old surface.
The Pools of Dreams standard
Built to be the contractor you recommend afterward.
Good craftsmanship matters. So does the way the job is run. Pools of Dreams pairs the finished work with a written plan, property protection and hands-on start-up care.
A written plan before work begins
Your scope, milestone payments and expected schedule are clear up front, followed by a check-in every week the crew is on site.
Your whole property is part of the job
Track mats protect the lawn and plywood protects the driveway lip. The contract also makes Pools of Dreams responsible for putting back anything the crew damages.
We stay through the first month
New plaster needs careful brushing and water chemistry. Pools of Dreams returns weekly for four weeks, protects the finish and teaches you how to care for it.

How it goes
A clear plan from first walkthrough to first swim.
A resurface with new tile and coping is usually three to four weeks on site. Here is the work in order, with the milestones you can expect along the way.
Walkthrough & measure
We stand in your backyard, measure the shell and the linear feet, and tell you what it needs — not what we'd like to sell.
Line-item proposal
Every item priced separately, with a clear scope, a milestone payment schedule and a warranty. Review and sign online.
Drain & chip out
Mats and plywood down first. Old plaster comes off, cracks and hollow spots get repaired, tile and coping come off if they're in scope.
Tile, coping, finish
New waterline tile and coping set and cured, then the plaster or quartz goes on. Acid wash, then we fill straight away.
Start-up & pool school
We balance the water, set the brushing schedule and come back weekly for a month. By the end you know how to run it.
